The distinctive spirit of hundreds of military and law enforcement officers is pervasive throughout the day. Race participants will include active duty officers and veterans from all branches of the U.S. Military and local law enforcement groups. But don’t be fooled this event is for EVERYONE. We welcome beginner runners, walkers and elite athletes alike. All you need is your sneakers and patriotism!
The Honor Run is held in cooperation with the Semper Fi Society and the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation. Formed in 1995 by former Marines and law enforcement personnel, the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation has awarded over 40 million dollars in scholarships and bonds to children of Marine Corps and law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. The Honor Run aims to raise awareness for this great work and to recognize the sacrifices of our nation’s men and women in uniform.

PLYMOUTH —
Former Veterans Agent David Stone will return to Plymouth Fridays to offer his professional counseling services to veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Stone lives in Plymouth but resigned his post as the town’s veterans agent last year to take a position at the Veterans Administration working with veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He will now also provide these services to local veterans of the global War on Terror from noon to 7:30 p.m. Fridays at the Nathan Hale Foundation Outreach Center.
As an outreach counselor for the Boston Vet Center, a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder clinic, Stone and other counselors provide one-on-one and group readjustment counseling and outreach services to all combat veterans. The veterans’ center is separate from the VA health care system, apart from the administrative support it provides.
“These veterans centers are about reaching out to veterans and getting them the services they need,” Stone explained.
At the new outreach clinic at Hale Foundation headquarters at 15 Main St., Stone will provide readjustment counseling, individual counseling, PTSD screening, medical referrals, assistance in applying for VA benefits, employment counseling, guidance and referrals.
Other services include group counseling, marital and family counseling, bereavement counseling and military sexual trauma counseling.
Stone will also advise veterans and their families about the benefits available to them.
All counseling and outreach services are provided at no cost to the veteran or family. Noncombat veterans can also benefit from these services, but there will be a charge after the third session.
The outreach program could be expanded to more hours and days depending on demand.
All these services are confidential.
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. To schedule an appointment, call Stone Monday through Thursday at the Boston Vet Center at 617-424-0665 or Fridays at the Nathan Hale Veterans Outreach Center at 508-747-2003.
